Hydro-Turf is now the official 2008 sponsor of SeaDooSportBoats.com! (Updated 01/09/2008)

Over the past couple of years I have been working with Mike Bonin. We have come to an agreement for a sponsorship program as you can see by the new "Sponsored By Hydro-Turf" logo at the top of our site. This means great things for both SeaDooSportBoats.com and Hydro-Turf. Through this sponsorship program we hope to bring Hydro-Turf many more happy SeaDoo Sport Boat customers and in return for this Hydro-Turf has agreed to give all SeaDooSportBoats.com members a 15% discount on new orders (excluding a discount on 3M PSA since Hydro-Turf is charging their cost on the tape & labor for that). To be eligible for the 15% discount you must be a registered member of SeaDooSportBoats.com and all new orders must include the Hydro-Turf logo (any orders in which members would like to exclude the Hydro-Turf logo the 15% discount will be forfeited). The 15% discount does not apply to special orders.

Hopefully this will bring even greater things to SeaDooSportBoats.com and Hydro-Turf!

If you are interested in getting your 15% discount on a new Hydro-Turf order please contact Kevin Leclair (Owner/Manager of SeaDooSportBoats.com) at info@seadoosportboats.com or Mike Bonin at mike@hydroturf.com for more details.

Kind regards,

> Coast Guard presents Boating Safety Award to BRP
Posted by Kevin Leclair - 09-13-08 14:35 - 0 comments
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety recognizes Bombardier Recreational Products today with its Boating Safety Award.

The award is given to BRP for its commitment to improving boating safety through the introduction of an unprecedented electronically controlled hand-braking system on two of its most popular and biggest selling 2009 Sea-Doo personal watercraft models.

This iBR (intelligent brake and reverse) braking innovation adds tremendously to the safety provided by the off-throttle and off-power steering systems that have been introduced to the personal watercraft arena. It allows the operator to stop the personal watercraft within a remarkably shorter distance and maintain much better control of the vessel.

The Coast Guard is optimistic that this innovative braking system will decrease the number of personal watercraft accidents, and the unfortunate deaths and injuries that can result from these accidents.

"The braking capability of this new design is not just an evolutionary improvement but a revolutionary improvement to the safety of these vessels," said Capt. Mark Rizzo, chief of the Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety. "Although this new braking system should help prevent some accidents, the Coast Guard continues its efforts to educate PWC riders to keep a safe distance from other vessels."

The U.S. Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety is dedicated to reducing loss of life, injuries, and property damage that occur on U.S. waterways by improving the knowledge, skills, and abilities of recreational boaters.

QUOTE
I will send pics of the 150 Speedster tomorrow as it isn't here. It will be available in 155, 215, and 255 HP configurations and looks like the 2006 model with black hull and either red or yellow top. The 180 Challenger is available in red or blue hull in either thr regular or SE editions. The 230 Challenger is available in either dark red or a light beige in the regular, SE, or SP model whch has the same colors as the WAKE without a lot of the Wake options. The maximum horsepower is 510, the SP is either 310 or 430, the regular is 310 only, the SE model is either 430 or 510 as is the WAKE! The 200 and 230 Wake are pretty much the same design as is the Islandia. The 200 Speedster is now available in either white or red, the only horsepower available is 430. The Utopia has a new black hull and is available in either 310 or 430 HP. Gotta go!

> BRP Redefines The Future of Boating (2008 Models)
Posted by Kevin Leclair - 10-4-07 10:48 - 0 comments
Palm Desert, CA, August 23, 2007 - The 2008 Sea-Doo® sport boats are redefining the mainstream boating market with a host of innovative features and consumer choices, including two premier, 7-metre / 23-foot contenders, the 230 Challenger* and 230 WAKE™. The 2008 Sea-Doo sport boats offer a unique combination of innovation, performance, ease-of-use, versatility, peace-of-mind, reliability, and convenience that provide more ways for families to have fun on the water.

"The 2008 Sea-Doo sport boats are designed and engineered from the ground up as totally integrated units. All systems function in complete harmony, making each model a unique, exhilarating experience to drive," said Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager, Snowmobile, Watercraft, ATV and Sport boat - North America.

SEA-DOO DIRECT DRIVE JET PROPULSION SYSTEM: The Sea-Doo sport boat competitive edge for 2008 starts with the Sea-Doo direct drive jet propulsion system (see Technology Backgrounder for details). This innovative system provides boaters with five key advantages over traditional stern drives:

1. Quick directional response;
2. Direct power;
3. Faster planing;
4. Reduced draft; and
5. Greater peace-of-mind.

SEA-DOO 4-STROKE ROTAX® 4-TEC® MARINE ENGINE: The heart of the Sea-Doo direct drive jet propulsion system is the 4-stroke Rotax 4-TEC marine engine, calibrated specifically for sport boats and integrally engineered to synchronize seamlessly with all the sport boat systems, including fuel and electrical. The Rotax 4-TEC engine also provides high performance, lower maintenance requirements and improved ease-of-use. For 2008, all Rotax engines in Sea-Doo sport boats meet the stringent CARB 3-star ultra-low-emission standard, while meeting EC rules for low noise.

NEW ON SEA-DOO 230 CHALLENGER & 180 CHALLENGER: The Sea-Doo sport boat advantage continues with trendsetting and award winning styling created at the BRP state of the art design centre. For 2008, the 230 Challenger boat offers a new walk-through transom for better accessibility, as well as elegant new coloration. The 180 Challenger features a new performance gauge facia.

NEW SEA-DOO SATELLITE-READY AM/FM/CD STEREO WITH MP3 PORT: For 2008, all Sea-Doo sport boats feature a new satellite-ready AM/FM/CD stereo with MP3 port. This new sound system delivers ample power to provide premium quality sound for all on-water adventures. SE models are equipped with a driver-side stereo remote for added convenience, while WAKE models feature a 125W per channel amplifier with four tower speakers and a PA system to entertain and communicate with those being towed.

SEA-DOO INNOVATION MAXIMIZES SPACE & VERSATILITY: Larger cockpits and greater passenger capacity in each segment mean more space for having more fun, with more friends.

* The exclusive Sea-Doo retractable windshield allows customized wind protection for the operator and passengers, as well as providing improved visibility and communication with the bow area.
* The Sea-Doo exclusive Fold 'n Stow™ door effectively isolates the cockpit when closed, protecting the occupants from wind, but folds down and slides out of sight when not in use.
* Other amenities on many models, such as easy-to-use swim platforms, convenient clean-up interiors with snap-in carpet, built-in or removable ice chests, and ski pylons, further enhance the outstanding versatility of Sea-Doo sport boats.

SEA-DOO SPORT BOATS ARE SERIOUS ABOUT TOW SPORTS: For 2008, BRP offers a complete family of Sea-Doo WAKE models, including its largest ever sport boat, the 230 WAKE. With premium wakeboarding features as value-added standard equipment, these turnon-a-dime sport boats pull skiers, wakeboarders and wakeskaters up out of the water quickly and easily.

"Our 2008 line-up offers versatile, fun-filled, hassle-free ownership and functional innovation to boaters who spend their leisure hours on the water with their families," concluded Leduc. "Along with the Sea-Doo direct drive jet propulsion system, that's more good reasons why BRP is among the top five boat manufacturers, and Sea-Doo is one of the world's biggest marine brands."¯

A 2007 Sea-Doo RXT model becomes the one millionth watercraft assembled in Valcourt

Valcourt, Quebec, January 29, 2007 - BRP and its Valcourt employees celebrated last Friday their one millionth Sea-Doo® watercraft to leave the assembly line, a 2007 Sea-Doo RXT® model powered by a Rotax® 4-TEC® engine. BRP invented the sport and, thanks to innovative features, striking design and unmatched performance, the Sea-Doo brand has been the industry leader for almost 20 years.

"BRP has always been at the forefront of the industry thanks to our employees' dedication to developing and manufacturing high quality products," said Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager, Snowmobiles, Watercraft, All-terrain vehicles and Sport boats, BRP. "Over the years, the company has introduced new technologies to improve safety and decrease noise and emissions for its watercraft. These are just a few of the reasons more and more people are discovering the excitement of riding on the open water aboard a Sea-Doo watercraft."

Today, the name Sea Doo is synonymous with meaningful innovations, trend-setting style and spirited performance. From the patented D-Sea-BelTM system to reduce sound emissions, to the Sea-Doo Learning KeyTM to limit the speed for new or less experienced riders, to the D.E.S.S.TM (Digitally Encoded Security System), BRP continues to out-innovate and out-design the competition by consistently developing safe and environmentally-friendlier features.

Each year, more and more families around the world are discovering the joys of an exciting adventure aboard a Sea-Doo watercraft. According to Michel Hade, vice-president and general manager of BRP's International division, "today's Sea-Doo products are 90 percent cleaner and 70 percent quieter than models introduced before 1998. It says a lot about the company's commitment to this industry and to providing great fun on the water to both enthusiasts and newcomers."

> Voluntary Safety Recall Notice
Posted by Kevin Leclair - 06-20-07 15:30 - 0 comments
Dear Sea-Doo® Sport Boat Owner,

This Safety Recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Coast Guard, which will monitor its effectiveness, and Transport Canada, in Canada.

What is the reason for this notice?
In cooperation with Transport Canada and the U.S. Coast Guard, Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. ("BRP") are conducting a voluntary safety recall of all Sea-Doo sport boats equipped with ROTAX naturally aspirated, 155 hp, 4-TEC engine, model year 2003 to 2007, as specified in the attached Safety Campaign Bulletin. Our records indicate that you are the owner of a potentially affected vehicle.

What is the potential problem?
Some pieces of the air box may detach. This may allow broken pieces to be drawn to the throttle body and in some cases, could prevent the throttle plate from returning completely to idle position, potentially leading to an unexpected failure to decelerate when the throttle lever is returned to the idle position. This situation could cause a collision with bystanders, a fixed object or another vehicle and potentially cause serious injuries or even death.

What should you do?
Immediately stop using your vehicle, call an authorized BRP dealer and make an appointment to have your vehicle repaired. The dealer will perform this work at no charge to you.

What to do if you feel this notice is an error?
This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. If you no longer own this vehicle or some information in this notice is incorrect, please contact BRP at your earliest convenience.

> Rotax 4-Tec Jet Drive Advantages
Posted by Kevin Leclair - 09-22-05 12:27 - 0 comments
ROTAX® 4-TEC® JET DRIVE ADVANTAGES

Sea-Doo® sport boats have distinct advantages over "traditional"¯runabouts.

Whistler, British Columbia, Canada - September 21, 2005 - Do what other boats don't. Go where other boats won't. Nothing on the water gives you a better sense of power, control and excitement than a jet drive. And when it comes to sport boats, no other brand brings you more innovative choices than Sea-Doo Sport Boats.

The safer way to boat
Because there's no propeller, you never have to worry about people boarding and reboarding a Sea-Doo sport boat in the water. No prop also lets you get on plane faster, giving you better visibility and allowing you to react to boating situations faster.

Direct Power
What happens when large volumes of water are forced through a 6 in (15 cm) nozzle with the aid of a few hundred horsepower? You get a tremendous amount of power directed toward a single point. It's the principle of jet propulsion. The engine turns a hidden impeller that pulls water through an inlet, into the pump and sends concentrated power out through the jet nozzle giving you a quick burst of acceleration when you hit the throttle.

Faster Planning
One thousand...one thousand two...you just accelerated to 20 mph (30 km/hr). You'll get on plane quickly with a jet drive. While most boats have to push water out of the way to get on plane, a jet drive pushes water in a straight line behind the boat instead of displacing water below the boat. So there's less bow rise, giving you a quick shot out of the hole. This gives you better visibility of what lies ahead and allows you to react to boating situations earlier. An added benefit of jet propulsion.

Quicker Directional Response
If you want a boat that responds to your every movement without lag time, then jet propulsion is the answer. Each Sea-Doo sport boat has fast reflexes. As the jet nozzle turns, it sends maximum thrust for instantaneous handling. And each Sea-Doo sport boat has a reduced 270o radius in the steering system for a tighter feel at the helm. On a Sea-Doo sport boat, you'll never want to get from point A to point B in a straight line.

Less Draft
You come to the water to get away from it all. Your boat shouldn't keep you from getting where you want to go. Which is why each Sea-Doo sport boat gives you greater access to shallow water. With a draft of only 12 in (30 cm) you have the ability to visit shallow coves, explore backwaters, or even head out on the water when lake levels are down.
